Apple of My Eye is the latest single from singer Malica. The song is produced by Jon Jon Traxx, who has worked with Tamia, Mary J Blige, Brandy and British soul singer Jessie J.
Malica co-wrote the song with her brother Atiba (whom the song was initially intended for), Jeff Villanueva and Rodney Hill.
"The song is about many things. It's about balance, love, giving and hope. It's about that moment of awe when you realise that you are truly in love. That you have fallen and you don't want to get up. It's about raw vocals and an instrument blending harmoniously. It's about me, and my realisation of what I am allowing myself to experience," said Malica.
Born in New York to Jamaican parents, Malica was raised in Duhaney Park. She was the first female vocalist signed to producer Tony Kelly's K-Licious Music Group.
She has worked with a number of producers including Jam 2, Rodney Jerkins and Seanizzle. Malica was also featured on the single, All Night Long, which is on an album by the late Polish singer Angélico Vieira.
She has recently been working with singer/producer Ky-Mani Marley.
